Welcome to this Christmas eZINE Update

In this update we give you the winner of the Goodwill Christmas Competition prize draw, and the Vocal Process Creative Competition winning slogans.

We preview the designs by Jeremy from the winning slogans, and feature the great slogans that we enjoyed but that didn't quite make it to the final four.

The Voicenerd collection grows

The Voicenerd collection is growing daily. Jeremy has just uploaded new garments, so we're starting this eZINE update with two of Jeremy's own. Click on the pictures for a bigger image.

This is the Moment tshirt. THIS is the moment, this IS the moment, this is THE moment, this is the MOment. Sorry, which moment are we talking about?"This is the Moment".
A single sentence can mean so much. Practise proper emPHAsis with the timely reminder from the Vocal Process Voicenerd collection:

THIS is the moment
This IS the moment
This is THE moment
This is the MOment.
Sorry, which moment are we talking about?

Here comes treble tshirt from the Vocal Process Voicenerd collection

"Here comes treble".
Angelic though they may sound and look, you just know that you've got one big pack of trouble. And it's all downhill. So warn the neighbours with this highly visible statement. Available for 6 to 16 year olds.

And the winner of the Goodwill Competition is...

You may remember that we said we'd put everyone's name in a hat and draw a Goodwill Christmas Competition winner? Well it was Kay Griggs-Wright, a member of the women's harmony chorus Vocal Dimension. She will receive a Voice Nerds Say Ah mousemat.

We also pledged to donate 50p for each entry we received, and we had enough entries to be able to donate £45 to the GoodGifts.org charity. Many thanks to all of you who helped us make that happen.

We're going to sponsor three brain cells in aid of Alzheimers and related diseases. So we now have four brain cells between us. That's a relief as the single braincell from last year was getting a bit lonely.

The Creative Competition

The Vocal Process Creative Christmas competition is now closed, the winners have been chosen, and their creations added to the Voicenerd collection at www.Cafepress.com/vocalprocess.

And as in the manner of every other world famous competition, we'll announce the winners in reverse order.

But before we do, thank you to everyone who sent in slogans and ideas, and even in a couple of cases the design itself for their captions. Some people sent one gem, some sent multiple entries. And at this point a special mention must go to Jochem Van Ast, who came up with half a dozen potential winners but was a day too late to enter. We couldn't award him one of the prizes, but as a thank you for being so creative, a couple of his slogans have made it into the Voicenerd collection.

The Creative Competition slogan 2nd runners up...

"/ptk//ptk/ Bakers Man" was one of the first entries from Andy Withers

"Slap that bass" came from Sonya Raymond

"Pick a note, any note" was sent in by Gemma Denman

"These are my best 3 bars - Dog and Duck, Coach and Horses, Truckers Stop A303"
and
"Only amateurs belt before noon" came from Kirsty Young

"mezzo = soprano with a big bottom" came from Karen McInally

And one from Lynn Hawkins that made me laugh:
"I am practising my siren but the dolphins keep pestering me"

The Creative Competition slogan 1st runners up

All of the 1st runners up will see their slogans in the Voicenerd collection in 2011, so let's start with:

"I may not be the best but I'm the loudest" from Paul McNally

"Vocal warmups keep out the cold" from Lynn Hawkins again

"What the fach?" from Hazel Card

"Top Twanger" from Kirsty Young

"These are my best 16 bars" from Kirsty Young again

Does my voice look big in this tshirt from the Vocal Process Voicenerd collectionand the round half-dozen from Jochem...

"My tiny voice is frozen"

"God be in my head-voice"

"Bass metal"

"Are you looking at my chest voice?"

"That'll never fit through my passaggio"

and

"Does my voice look big in this?"

And the Creative Competition slogan winners!

We ended up with four winners, and in fact five people, as two singers came up with the same slogan.

We felt that these were the strongest slogans, and also the ones people were most likely to wear.

It's all about Mi Mi Mi, another great t-shirt from the Vocal Process Voicenerd Collection"It's all about /miː/ /miː/ /miː/"

Why is this vocal exercise sooo good? Because it's all about me me me of course. Click on the image for a closer look. This tshirt comes in three different colour combinations.

We had several slogans submitted based on phonetics, but Karen McInally won with this entry.
Karen has asked for a messenger bag so that her husband can have his Tesco bag-for-life back.

You know when your Vox Rox, so shout it out with this t-shirt from the Vocal Process Voicenerd Collection

"Vox Rox"

You know when your vocals really rock. The producer's happy, the audience is happy, now you can be happy with this Vox Rox t-shirt. This one comes in 7 different colours.

Ruth Harry sent in four separate slogans, but it was this snappy one that caught our eye the most.

Her first reaction on being told she was a winner was "omg!". Ruth also chose a messenger bag.

Love Me, Love My Larynx - a funky t-shirt from the Vocal Process Voicenerd Collection

"Love me, love my larynx"

If you're feeling nervous about the recording studio, the rehearsal, or even the audition, wear this t-shirt to give a really clear message to your colleagues. And it'll remind you to do the same...

Click on the image for a closer look. This one comes with black, red or brown sleeves.

Kim Chandler and Kirsty Young both came up with this slogan, but the design is Jeremy's. Kim's reaction was: "Are you serious?? (Please tell me you're not winding me up ;-)". The Heart Me Heart My Larynx mousemat from the Vocal Process Voicenerd CollectionOnce we'd convinced her, Kim chose this capped sleeve t-shirt.

Kirsty, director of Hatstand Opera, also wins the unofficial prize for the most entries, with a total of 17, and is the only person to get slogans in each of the 2nd runner up, 1st runner up and winning categories. She chose to have this winning slogan immortalised on a mousemat, shown here.

"AControl, Alto, Delete - the soprano's three favourite keys. Featured on this messenger bag from the Vocal Process Voicenerd Collection soprano's 3 favourite keys - Control, Alto, Delete"

As a soprano, you're just too polite and nice to let your feelings out in rehearsal. So let this messenger bag give those altos just the right message.

This one made Jeremy laugh the most. It was sent in by Jodi and Ali in Cumbria: Here's Ali's reaction when she heard the slogan was a winner:
"ha ha ha ha ha ha
mwahahahaharrrr....
That's brilliant! I've basked so much I could pass for a well cooked Christmas turkey!"

Ali and Jodi have chosen a messenger bag to take to choir practice. Something tells me the altos are in for a hard time.
