The Music Teacher
magazine writes about Jeremy Fisher's composition work on the new
Recorder Magic piano accompaniments book.
To judge by the
reaction of my colleagues when I showed round my review copy,
Recorder Magic Piano Accompaniments (for descant books 1-4) is
what we've all been waiting for! Jane Sebba's original and popular
tutors had, to my mind, one drawback. I had not been quite able to
work out the harmonic implications of her tunes, and my busked
accompaniments always left rather a lot to be desired. Well, here is
the answer: accompaniments that are colourful and imaginative, and
nothing like my efforts. They repay looking through beforehand, but
although Sebba and team don't shy away from rhythmic independence of
the tune, they still give more than adequate support to the learner.
All four tutor books are covered by this one volume, making it both
good value and practical.
