Vocal Process News Archive...
30 September 2002
Monthly Summary
Nearly 300 people
registered for On The House on Saturday 7th September, and the
Expectations forms filled in at the beginning of the day make
fascinating reading. The four taster workshops with Gillyanne,
Jeremy, Deirdre and Lise were very well received – a big thank you
to our guinea pigs, Lucy, Melody and the boys from Dulwich College,
for being brave enough to be coached under glass. The live computer
voice analysis demonstration by Jeremy caused a lot of comment, with
questions about male falsetto, and evidence of the difference
between low larynx and flattened tongue singing. (Have a look at our
Sound Archive page for visual and sound examples of computer
analysis). We also revealed the plans for our accreditation process
– further details will be posted on this site soon. Thanks to our
sterling helpers, Gill, Matthew, Amanda, Louise and Dave, and to the
Regent Hall (and the caterers) for a lovely venue, refurbished that
week.
Gillyanne flew off
three days later to start her tour of American Universities. She is
visiting guest artist for three theatre departments, and will be
giving specialist workshops, seminars and public masterclasses on
work from her book, Singing and The Actor. We will be publishing a
report on her return at the end of the month. In the meanwhile,
check out our newest course, Vocal Proficiency, on the courses page.
