Monthly Summary
The buzz for our On
The House course last September is still in the air! We were
fortunate to have as one of the participants Luisa Shannahan, a
mover and shaker from the other side of the world. She had read
about the event, and came to report back to the New Zealand
Association of Teachers of Singing. To describe these two as a
dynamic duo would not be an exaggeration… That Vocal Process Limited
employ best arts business practices is impressive and everywhere
evident – organization, promotions, course choices and discounts,
glossy newsletter, quick client response and follow-up, website
information. Click on the Articles button to read the rest of the
report.
We have not been
idle in the last six weeks. Gillyanne and Jeremy gave the first
paper on Voice Quality and Emotion in Synchronised Singing at the
Colloquium given by the International Centre for Research in Music
Education. Thanks to Nicholas Bannan at Reading University for
organising and hosting such a fascinating and friendly event. And
October 13th saw us in Nottingham giving the first public workshop
on our book Successful Singing Auditions, at the Lynne Wayman Voice
Centre. A great mix of performers included a young opera singer, a
television actress, and a young man auditioning for the next series
of Pop Idol! We enjoyed ourselves immensely, thanks to the
commitment of the participants and the superb hosting from Lynne
Wayman and John Baines. Feedback from one singer summed up our aims
for the workshop: The world of auditioning seems less daunting now
and you really helped my self-confidence. Ta!. Another Successful
Singing Auditions workshop will be happening in London on February
2nd 2003 – be there or be afraid!
