Monthly Summary
Welcome to the New
Year! Were starting with an update on our final course last year.
The run-up to Christmas saw a repeat of the ever-popular Belting
Explained, at the English Touring Theatre building in London. The
day attracted our usual cross-genre blend of actors, voice teachers,
singers of Barbershop, Jazz and Musical Theatre, a Community
Musician and a choral conductor. As Jeremy was away playing for
opera concerts in the Midlands, Gillyanne was delighted to welcome
Matthew Reeve as co-presenter. Matthew taught for us on the Musical
Theatre Intensive course at the RSAMD in Glasgow in the summer. He
arrived at English Touring Theatre with a sheaf of recorded examples
of Belting and its variations. A write-up of the course will be
appearing soon.
After an extended
break over Christmas, we welcomed several private clients from
Austria, France and Italy, who flew in for some extended coaching.
Gillyannes first book now has an international reputation, and
increasingly we are receiving calls from overseas clients wanting to
book several days worth of lessons. For those of you who really cant
make it to our studios, we are planning to put an excerpt from our
CD, Basic Vocal Functioning, in the Books and CDs section of this
website. One track from the CD has already been featured on the
British Association of Barbershop Singers Distance Learning CDRom,
aimed at chorus conductors and trainers. The Basic Vocal Functioning
CD can only be obtained from Vocal Process directly, so click on the
Booking Form button on the left to order your copy.
Having run out of
copies before Christmas, our Successful Singing Auditions book is
now back in stock. And check out our course based on the book in
February. We have already received audition tapes, but there are
still places for singers who want to discover their auditioning
strengths. Those of you who have met us will know that we are
dedicated to passing on practical information to as wide a range of
people as possible. So many of our course attendees have told us
that they wish they had come across the information earlier in their
careers. With that in mind, we have just implemented a student
observer rate for the 'Successful Singing Auditions' day of 25. So if
you are still a full-time student, or if any of your own students
qualify, come along and find out what we do.
