Vocal Process News Archive...
30 April 2003
Monthly Summary
We have been doing a
lot of networking over the last few months and there are some
exciting projects afoot with other organisations. Gillyanne has been
advising the RSAMD on their new Musical Theatre Postgraduate course,
which is due to commence in September. It promises to be leading
course of its type, with Gillyannes input on the vocal work and
other musical theatre experts (including Jeremy) giving input on
audition preparation, performance and style. We have also been
collaborating with the Rimon Academy in Tel Aviv. Sponsored by the
British Council, we created a two-day course for the Academy based
on Core Training. We hope to make it to Israel after the summer,
when the situation in the Middle East stabilises.
Gillyanne begins her
annual pedagogy unit for the MA Voice Studies course at Central
School this month, ably assisted by Matthew Reeve. Congratulations
are due to Matthew who has recently completed his Masters training
with EVTS and is now licensed to teach public courses in the Estill
model. And on the book front, the good news is that the first
edition of Singing and The Actor is all but sold out. This means
that there will be a new edition prepared. Early stages yet, but
well keep you posted.
This month sees the
release of the latest Vocal Process Distance Learning CD, Better
Vocal Functioning for female voice. After working with the
Federation of Directors (Ladies Association of British Barbershop
Singers), we realised there was a need for a tailored CD for female
voice. Jeremy does the voice-overs for this CD and Gillyanne does
the demonstrations. An important addition to our first training CD
(Basic Vocal Functioning) is work on negotiating the passaggio
(gear changes) in female voice. Visit our
Products section for more details.
We have just
announced the dates of our Musical Theatre Intensive course. This
popular course returns to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and
Drama in Glasgow, and will run from August 8th – 10th. Two Strands,
Young Performers (16-25) and Professional Development (18+) cater
for those wanting to learn more about the genre and those already
working in the field. Six tutors will cover acting, vocal technique,
and performance integration. New this year is an opportunity to
learn about Pop and commercial singing styles. For more information,
click on the Musical Theatre Intensive page or the separate MTI
Booking Form.
