Help with your ebooks...
This page
gives you information and help on viewing and registering
your Vocal Process Voicebox Videos ebooks.
How do I
get my ebook?
You can buy ebooks from the
Vocal Process Products page, either with a credit/debit card
or your Paypal account. When your payment has been
processed, you will receive an email with your download link
and (if appropriate) your username and password. Make a note
of these unique details - your download link will be
available for 48 hours.
Click on the download link – a popup box should appear with
the choice of Run, Save or Cancel.
PC users will receive a downloadable .exe file. Save it to
your hard drive, then double click to open. If you get a popup
asking whether you want to open it (it might say that it's an
unknown publisher), say Yes or click on Run.
Mac users will receive a downloadable zip file. Unzip the
file and open the purple ebook. As the videos in the ebook are saved
as wmv files, Mac users may also need to download
a free plugin called
flip4mac
Why do I have a username and password?
Each ebook comes with a username and password
combination that is unique to you. This combination ensures
that you have a valid copy and protects the ebook from
unauthorised copying or sales. If you buy more than one
ebook, you will usually receive a unique username and
password combination for each ebook. You will need
this combination to view the ebook.
The ebook will
open to the first page (usually an index page). When you
click on the next page for the first time, a popup box will
appear inviting you to type in your username and password
combination. You will only need to do this once! The program
checks with the online database (you need to be online for
this bit) to confirm that you have a legitimate copy, then
opens the rest of the ebook for you to read.
I can’t
download my ebook!
When you bought your ebook, you should have received an
email containing the download link and (if appropriate) your
username and password.
This link is only live for 48 hours, so if you have missed
the download window, you need to
contact us again – we can
easily resend you the download link.
I’ve lost my username and password
If the Ebook Pro program asks you for your username and
password but you have lost them – go back to your download
confirmation email. This should contain the information you
need. If you don’t have access to that email,
contact us and
we can resend your username and password information.
I get a Security warning message from Windows – what
should I do?
If you are on a PC and open the ebook .exe file, you are
likely to get a Security warning from Windows. It might say
something like “the publisher cannot be verified” or “This
file does not have a valid digital signature”. If the ebook
has been downloaded from Vocal Process, it is ok to click
Yes or Run.
The .exe file is created by Vocal Process from a program
called Ebook Pro. The .exe file is necessary to run the
ebook viewing program and is harmless to your computer. Most
small program-producing companies cannot afford the fees or
the process that Microsoft insists on to “verify” their
products, so this warning message appears to double-check
whether you want to open the file in question. You can of course choose not to run the ebook
program, but you will not be able to watch the ebook file.
I'm having problems
registering my ebook?
You received your unique username and password for each in an
email from Vocal Process. If you are having a challenge with registering your eBook, please
try the following and see if it helps.
1. Is your internet connection ok? Can you browse to other
websites? If so then good
2. Try opening Internet Explorer, go to tools, then "Internet
Options"
3. Click on the "Connections" tab and then click on "LAN
settings"
4. Make sure the proxy option is turned off
5. Try disabling any firewall or security related software on
your PC temporarily.
Please make sure you type in your username and password and DO
NOT copy/paste it from the email you received.
6. Finally, try checking your date/time settings on your computer
and make sure they are correct.
I can open the ebook
but the video won't play
The PC version of the
ebook (the .exe file) uses your computer's inbuilt video player -
usually Windows Media Player. If the video does not play after
registering your ebook, it may be that you don't have the current
version of Windows Media Player (Version 11). Open your Windows
Media Player (try Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment to
find it). Right click in the task bar at the top of the Player, and
select Help, About Windows Media Player. If you don't have version
11 you can download it free from
the Microsoft site by clicking here. Once you have installed
Media Player 11, the ebook video should play normally.
The Mac version (the .zip
file) uses your computer's inbuilt video player. You may need to
download the free plugin called
flip4mac to play the wmv video files.
I can't see any
controls on my audio player (The 5 Minute Warmup for Presenters
ebook only)
Each sound file is
bundled into the ebook. If your computer does not have an
appropriate player or version installed, you may just see a black
line where the audio file sits on the page. To start playing the
audio file, click on the black line itself, a little way in from the
left. This should start the audio file.
