Integrated Voice...

This innovative programme has been created for the contemporary vocal trainer needing to work across the genres. It is a post-professional qualification for those already working in the field of voice, music, theatre or voice therapy.

Traditionally the disciplines of spoken and sung voice have been taught separately. Integrated Voice offers a more holistic approach to vocal training.

Three features make this programme for vocal practitioners distinctive:

  1. The integration of voice use in speech and singing.
  2. The study of vocal function.
  3. The provision of cross-genre training.

The programme is in three Modules, all of which run on a part-time basis to fit with the life of a working professional. You do not need to be a singer to join the programme – by the end of the programme all participants will have an understanding of both sung and spoken voice.

Module One: Fundamentals of Vocal Integration – in-depth work on vocal function, the development of a common vocabulary and the development of personal skills.

Module Two: Advanced Vocal Practice – diagnostic tools, advanced personal vocal skills and application of the work in teaching practice.

Module Three: Specialisation – a personal project that represents work at an advanced level in your chosen field. This practical project is supported by a written dissertation.

The faculty includes Tom Harris, Sara Harris, David Carey, Gillyanne Kayes, Jeremy Fisher, Julie McLean and Heather Keens, with consultant Elisabeth Stirling. (see panel, right)

We are looking for people already skilled in voice or a related field, with a recognised qualification (or equivalent in field experience) in music, theatre or voice and speech.
