Vocal Process for Speech and Language Therapists...

Vocal Process can help you acquire diagnostic tools and vocal figure exercises to target muscle tension dysphonias, discover vocal play to encourage improved voice use, and improve personal vocal practice and auditory recognition skills. Many of our courses include instruction on deconstriction (retraction), sob, tone onsets and vocal sets. Vocal Process has been providing learning opportunities on the Estill techniques referenced in the Voice Clinic Handbook (Harris, Harris, Rubin and Howard) since 1997.

"An excellent course. Feedback at the SIG was fantastic. Everyone was most impressed".

Clare Stevenson
Organiser: Voice and Laryngectomy SIG in Northern Ireland.

"It has been a brilliant three days with the practical content I was looking for. Ideally all singing teachers and specialist voice SLT's would do this course."

FA, Specialist Voice Speech and Language Therapist

"my children have enjoyed me cackling like a witch in pursuit of a twang…"

Avril Nicoll, Speech and Language Therapy in Practice

The Vocal Process courses most appropriate to the spoken voice are: With One Voice, The Voice of Violence, The Developing Voice and our flagship course, Singing and the Actor Training.

A number of Speech and Language Therapists have benefited from attending out courses. We are also happy to visit your SIG to give onsite courses tailored to your needs and interests.

The recent tailored day for the South West SLT SIG included the application and comparison of the four basic vocal sets, with video endoscopy and stroboscopy examples, and a demonstration of Computer Voice Analysis using two different Spectrographic programmes.

Many Voice Clinic clients come from an amateur singing background - Singing and the Actor can help you understand the problems facing singers today. Written by Gillyanne Kayes, Singing and the Actor gives clear and precise information on the types of voice qualities required in modern performing.

"Having the Singer and the Actor book will be most useful for reference (and interesting reading!) in the clinic".

Barbara Preston (SLT)
