Vocal Process and Barbershoppers...

Vocal Process is dedicated to sharing straightforward and practical information on singing and speaking. Gillyanne Kayes has been a regular guest vocal consultant at the annual Harmony College events for the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS). Gillyanne and Jeremy Fisher have also presented a training weekend for the Faculty of Directors from the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS).

Vocal Process training for Barbershoppers focuses on fast and practical ways to improve choral sound. Topics covered include tonal balance, the voice-breath connection, matching vowels, and identifying and smoothing gear changes. We also give exercises for tuning, setting up "lead" quality, extending your range and clearing your voice of interference.

Several choruses have already benefited from Vocal Process input, including Preston Barbershop Harmony Singers, the Kentones (Bromley), Guildford Harmony, and Vale Harmony. Thames Valley Chorus have also worked with us and participated in a research project on 'Emotion and voice quality in synchronised singing' with Nicholas Bannan of Reading University. Many of our courses are appropriate to Barbershoppers, including our flagship course, Singing and the Actor Training. We also offer in-house coaching, recommended for clubs and quartets. Visit the Tailored Courses section for more information.
