The Developing Voice
0-20 in 6 hours.

This day course covers the physical and vocal changes from the early years of childhood to 19 and beyond, and represents the best practice in working with young singers today.

  • Discover how the development of the skeleton and muscles alters the way we speak and sing

  • Understand the massive physical changes that happen in adolescence

  • Identify the five stages of change for boys’ voices

  • Dealing with girl’s voices – why they get breathy

  • Learn the three-minute voice test

  • Healthy practices for young voices

  • How to encourage and inform those with changing voices to continue

  • What to expect in terms of range and voice quality

  • Appropriate pitch ranges – when to change key!

  • Advice on suitable exercises

  • Live masterclass with young singers

The course includes sound file examples of different stages of change in boys and girls – witness a single voice moving through the five stages of change in minutes. Participants also receive a substantial booklet of information written by Jenevora.

Here's what people think of the course

"The presentation was authoritative and clearly based on huge knowledge and experience. I particularly found the speaking pitches for the changing male voice and the factual information re assessing the range of a child's voice valuable, I am now using this knowledge all the time."

"Jenevora was an excellent speaker - very relaxed and encouraging. It's highlighted lots of things I'm already doing and taught me lots of things I didn't know and now feel happy to teach."

"It is so useful to have a discussion forum for us singing teachers, who often work in isolation, to share views, tips, latest research, and in particular ideas on repertoire for changing voices - as came up yesterday."

"A great day, I loved every minute of it. 10/10 Excellent!"
